Offered for sale is a gorgeous 1957 Mercedes-Benz 190SL California Roadster finished in what is arguably the most elegant and timeless factory color combination: Silver over Navy Leather with a Navy soft top.
The paint is exceptional, a recent professional repaint that was blocked extensively to ensure a straight body and excellent panel fit. Deep and lustrous, it would be difficult to document many flaws anywhere in the finish. The original chrome and glass are great and the soft top is excellent without any tears or wear marks and a clear rear plastic window. The original navy leather seats are in great condition, showing no tears or fading and only minimal wear and the original carpets are nice as well. The photographs were taken prior to a clock being reinstalled in the glove box door.
The mechanicals on the car are excellent. As you can tell from the engine bay photo, the car is mechanically original with a numbers matching engine, correct solex carbs, etc. The carburetors were recently removed and rebuilt for ideal performance. The transmission pulls smoothly through all gears and there is no smoke upon startup or idle. The compression test results were excellent. This is a wonderful California driver and with the market for good 190SL’s increasing at such a rapid rate, you couldn’t possibly be making the wrong decision in considering this 190 as the perfect addition to any collection.
