1959 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider

$56,500.00

Wonderfully original Giulietta Spider with strong running original engine and a Veloce 5-speed transmission. A rust-free California car with plenty of patina, it can be enjoyed as is or would make an exceptional candidate for an easy restoration. Alfa prices have solidly escalated over the past few years and with no signs of slowing we’d recommend getting one while they’re still remotely affordable.

    Description

Offered for sale is a wonderfully original 1959 Alfa Romeo Guilietta Spider Normale. This is an original California example that has been incredibly maintained and regularly driven in the Northern California wine country. The car’s two owners were passionate Alfa enthusiasts and European sports car collectors. As a result of detail oriented ownership and favorable California climate, this car remains completely rust free. The undercarriage has not been repaired, patched, or replaced. While the paint shows age and patina, the body is straight and unmolested. It would be a difficult proposition to find a more honest unrestored Alfa Romeo Guilietta with a numbers matching engine currently available for sale. This is a very good car.

As described previously, the body is in great, rust-free condition. The panel gaps and fits are uniform, the exterior brightwork is in excellent shape, and the correct soft top is in good original condition, fitting as it should with a clear rear plastic window. The wheels were upgraded 40 years ago to a correct set of Guilietta Veloce wheels and they look fantastic. The tires are new with plenty of remaining tread. The interior is beautiful. The correct black seats with red piping accent the car wonderfully. The carpet, door panels, and dash are all in great original shape.

The previous owner of the Guilietta drove the car regularly, resulting in a car that has been properly maintained at a high level. The original numbers matching engine has excellent and even compression across each cylinder, starts easily and never blows smoke. The car retains its original single Weber carburetor. The decision was made to upgrade the gearbox to the much desired Guilietta Veloce five speed gearbox. This means you can actually get on the freeway and drive comfortably. This is a special unrestored car for a true Alfa buyer.
