    Description

Offered for sale is an exquisite, rust free, one California owner, original numbers matching 1962 Mercedes-Benz 220SE Cabriolet. This is a true, factory cabriolet with the correct 111023 VIN prefix, not a coupe conversion. It has been passionately owned since new by a very meticulous and knowledgeable German American collector and business owner. He purchased the car new in Germany (hence its European options and 4 speed manual gearbox) and drove it for approximately 4 years in Europe before moving to California and shipping the car to his new residence. This car was used to travel from his beautiful home to his resort/country club on weekends. This car is of top original quality and certainly shows the care and devotion of its original owner.

This immaculate Cabriolet is finished in its beautiful and correct light ivory (DB 620) over oxblood burgundy leather interior. The paint is excellent. It retains a beautiful depth and gloss from routine trips to the detailer. You will not find a straighter car. All the panels fit as they should, with correct gaps. The original soft top is in excellent shape. The window is clear and the canvas is free of tears and fading. The chrome on the car is wonderful. The undercarriage is original and rust free. I am more than happy to email additional pictures of the underbody. The wheels are wrapped in brand new white wall tires. The interior is also superb. The leather interior shows only the most minimal of wear. The seats, door panels, and dash are nearly perfect. The carpets are excellent. The wood is in spectacular condition. It comes with its original Becker Europa Radio. Everything is in order and in great condition.

The mechanicals are superb. I recently took the car out on a long weekend road trip up the coast (400 miles round-trip) and do not have a single mechanical problem to report. The engine’s compression is perfect, the manual gearbox pulls strongly and smoothly through all four gears without any grinding, and the suspension is very tight. This 220SE has been extremely well cared for mechanically and it shows. There are many good German mechanics in my area and I would be more than happy to help facilitate in a professional mechanical inspection for all interested buyers.
