    Description

Offered for sale is an absolutely gorgeous, mechanically excellent, solid and correct, numbers matching 1964 Austin Healey 3000 MK III BJ8 finished in ever-desirable dark British Racing Green over a black interior. Believed to have accrued a mere 58k miles over its 51 years of service, the car was the recipient of a comprehensive frame up restoration some 20 years ago and has been driven sparingly since, always properly garaged and maintained at the highest level.

We acquired the car from marque expert Sports Car Shop in Eugene, Oregon where it had been faithfully serviced for its previous owner. Within the last 650 miles the car has received in excess of $10,000 worth of mechanical work including (but not limited to) a front brake job, total rebuild or replacement of all brake and clutch hydraulics, rebuilt overdrive, uprated rear crankshaft seal installation and a complete service and tune up. Service receipts are of course included in the sale and can be provided to serious buyers.

Needless to say, the car is exceptionally well sorted – both mechanically and electrically – worthy of either weekend pleasure drives or long distance touring. The engine starts easily, idles consistently and pulls strongly and smoothly through each of the original transmission’s gears. Compression is strong and even, overdrive functions flawlessly, the car drives and brakes straight and true and ride quality is superb.

The dark British Racing Green finish is in excellent condition, marred only by the most negligible of imperfections, none of which are significant enough to appear in the pictures. The chrome, glass and rubber are all in good shape and the chassis and undercarriage are in excellent condition, entirely straight, solid and free of harmful corrosion. The interior was reupholstered in correct materials and patterns, shows virtually no wear whatsoever and the soft top is free of imperfections with a clear rear window.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a wonderful appreciating classic with all the right things going for it: corrosion-free, numbers matching, mechanically strong and beautifully finished in a desirable livery. With “Big Healey” auction results routinely fetching sales prices nearing and often surpassing six figures, they represent a unique segment of the classic car market: highly collectible with good appreciation potential, but with strong #2 drivers still priced somewhat accessibly so that you can actually enjoy driving them. And that’s a good thing, because they are far too fun from behind the wheel to relegate them to garages or trailers on the way to shows. This car is no exception, undoubtedly providing its next owner with countless enjoyable driving experiences in an asset that will only increase in value over time.
