    Description

Offered for sale is a wonderfully lumbering, proudly American, four seat suicide door 1966 Lincoln Continental convertible. No other car on the road feels as opulently, era-specifically outrageous. It’s big. American big. Cadillac, for all of its glory, was briefly forgotten when the Continental came out. This is the car to have, then and now. While it benefitted from the exposure of the HBO show “Entourage”, the car deserves some credit on its own.

With long, deliberate styling lines, nothing said success like the Continental. It had it all – power top, smooth drive quality, meaty 462 engine, cushy seats, power everything. Indelibly complicated, the car represented the U.S.‘s success of the era. Times have changed, but the car has not. First of all, it’s absolutely beautiful. With a collection full of 1960s European sports cars, nothing gets more attention than the Continental. It’s the most unignorable car we own, and that’s how you feel driving it. It’s a car where you feel obligated to wrap your free arm around the back of the front seat, sinking back into a position of ownership. And not just of the car, but of the world in general.

The exterior is in fantastic, completely straight with a finish in impeccable condition. The panel fit is excellent, there’s no evidence of accidents and the car is free of rust. Finished in eternally tasteful factory colors, the seats are perfect, as are the carpets. And with the soft top in excellent original condition, this car needs very little to be a show contender. The car starts easily, idles and runs smoothly and shifts through all of the gears as it should. It’s a joy to cruise in and completely smooth on the highway. It’s an excellent example with a thick stack of records and will be one of those cars I’ll be sad to let go.
