    Description

Offered for sale is an incredibly beautiful 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SE Coupe finished in understated and rare Navy Blue over dark blue leather. The W111 bodied coupe, also known as the “Heckflosse” (fin tail) or “Opera” Coupe, is undoubtedly one of the most timelessly elegant cars of the era with swooping graceful lines, impeccable proportions and plenty of chrome to accentuate all of it. Finished in what is arguably the most tasteful Mercedes color of the era, this stunning example completely embodies sophisticated opulence while retaining its German practicality and incredible engineering. Lovingly cared for and maintained from new,  it was ordered through the European Delivery program by an extremely prominent real estate developer in the Seattle area as a wonderful excuse to take his family to Europe for the summer. As such, the car has its service booklet originally stamped in Austria and Switzerland before spending a vast majority of its life in the greater Seattle area. That said, as an inspection of the undercarriage shows, the car was always properly garaged and maintained and never developed any rust issues. The original owner sold it to an equally conscientious buyer who eventually had to pass it on to us due to a loss of adequate garage space. The level care that the car has received over the years is immediately evident – everything is well sorted and extremely presentable, to say the very least.

The Navy Blue paint is fantastic, a deep and lustrous mirror finish that absolutely glows. Marred only by minor imperfections that are too insignificant to appear in any of the photographs, it truly sets the car apart from 90% of the vintage Mercedes models we’ve come across. The car’s chrome is in excellent condition throughout, the only flaw being two minor marks on the rear bumper, and the car is amazingly straight, without any evidence of accidents and excellent panel fit and gaps. All of the glass and rubber are fantastic and the color matched hubcapped wheels are in excellent condition with white wall tires that are nearly new. The interior is equally as clean. Having been reupholstered in the correct Mercedes leather, the front seats are flawless and the rear seats show virtually no wear at all. The carpets, interior panels and headliner are all excellent and the car’s wood dash accents are very presentable, but could be refinished if you wanted to turn it into a showcar. The car is also mechanically fantastic, starting easily, idling consistently and pulling strongly and smoothly through each of its gears. The cars ride quality is as luxurious as its styling, seeming to flow effortlessly down the highway but with enough power to satisfy the important businessman’s ego, per Mercedes’ target market and advertising. Whether on just an easy joyride to dinner or on a road trip up the coast, the car is an absolute pleasure to drive.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire an absolutely beautiful Heckflosse coupe that will provide its next owner with an appreciating asset that can actually be driven and enjoyed. It’s hard to come by examples that are rust free, cosmetically gorgeous, mechanically sound and finished in extremely desirable color schemes.
