    Description

Offered for sale is a timelessly elegant European 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL finished in beautiful Dark Green (DB 268H) over a perfectly offsetting Bamboo interior. The 250SL was a vast improvement to its 230SL predecessor and certainly the rarest of the Pagodas, making up less than 11% of the W113 production run. Originally ordered by a U.S. Army Colonel stationed in Germany, this lovely little car was enjoyed there until 1969 before following him home when his deployment changed. Upon importation he had the headlights changed from the European “fishbowl” lenses to the U.S. style version, but the kilometer speedometer and odometer remain, showing 47,531 kilometers. Judging from the condition of the car and its history, this is likely 147,531 km or 91,671 miles. This car has been lovingly cared for since new, always garaged and properly maintained. It hasn’t been restored, instead maintaining it’s originality with the correct re-upholstery, touch-ups, etc. being taken care of over the years when needed. As such, this is not a $100,000 Concours example, but as the pictures show it is an extremely presentable W113 and is the perfect candidate for weekend drives, club events or even tooling through town as an extremely nice daily driver classic.

The exterior is in great shape, the Dark Green finish marred only by minor imperfections typical to a paint job of this vintage (a couple of cracks, a small chip here and there, etc.), but no dents, dings, scratches, or anything significant. All of the chrome, glass and rubber are in good shape, and original wheels have their color-matched hub caps and are wrapped in white wall tires with plenty of remaining tread. The car comes with both its hard and soft tops, the hard-top hardly ever used and completely original while the soft top is less than a year old and made from the correct German material. The car’s interior is equally as clean with Bamboo colored seats showing hardly any wear at all, carpets and interior panels all in good shape and dash wood and all interior chrome in excellent original condition.

The car’s original engine starts without any smoke or hesitation, pulls strongly through all of the gears and doesn’t appear to have any leaks. It has always been maintained throughout its trusty service and offers the driver an enjoyable motoring experience. The car is lots of fun to drive, smooth and comfortable but with a ton of vintage charm. It garners attention wherever it goes, constantly getting grins and thumbs ups from other drivers and preferential treatment from any valet. The engine compartment is gorgeous and correct, as is the trunk which retains its spare tire, full tool kit and a German first aid kit. The car’s undercarriage is in fantastic original shape and additional pictures can be forwarded on request.

If you’re looking for an extremely presentable, strong driving classic that’s sure to appreciate and offer years of trustworthy and pleasurable service, this car deserves your serious consideration. It has all the right things going for it: gorgeous color combination, smooth running original engine and it’s rust-free throughout.
