    Description

Offered for sale is a striking, exceptionally original, one owner, numbers matching, final model year example of a 1976 Triumph TR6 with only 49,000 original miles from new. Finished in gloriously era-specific and factory original Java Green, this example has been fastidiously cared for, always garaged and maintained, and is consequently fantastically preserved. Used as a daily driver for the first five years of its life, the owner opted to keep it as a weekend driver/hobby car for the ensuing thirty years, driving it sparingly and only in good weather until his death in 2012. At that point his widow made the car available through a dealer with whom we have a relationship, which is when we were fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to acquire it. Because it was kept out of the elements, the car’s body, frame and undercarriage are original and have always been rust-free. Further, the engine and mechanicals were always properly maintained, yielding an example that retains nearly all of its originality yet is exceedingly presentable and an absolute joy to drive.

Cloaked in wonderfully conspicuous and rare Java Green (its original factory paint code), the car’s body is straight, is free of dings or dents and retains excellent panel fits and consistent gaps throughout. All of the glass, chrome and rubber is in great original condition, the deep-dish wheels are wrapped in tires with plenty of remaining tread and the soft top is brand new and correct. The car also comes with three spare polished wheel rings, a boot cover, a full tonneau cover, its original books and manuals and a file of service records. The car’s interior is also in excellent condition, the vinyl seats, interior panels, dash and carpets showing virtually no wear whatsoever. The wood inlay in the dash is original and entirely presentable, exhibiting a light patina consistent with its thirty-seven years.

When the key is turned, the tried and true 2.5L inline 6-cylinder engine fires right up, idles consistently and pulls strongly and smoothly through each of the gears. The car drives and brakes straight and provides the wonderfully visceral and prototypical British sports car ride quality for which the TR6 is renowned. I recently took the car for a jaunt down the coast to Malibu and it performed famously, exhibiting excellent power and performance without any indication of overheating or anything else out of the ordinary. Regardless of where you go, the car never fails to garner attention and smiles from motorists and pedestrians, let alone from whoever is behind the wheel.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire an honest final year example of the storied TR6 that has everything going for it: a one owner car with low original miles finished in a rare and desirable color, strong and correct mechanicals, solid undercarriage and body and in excellent aesthetic condition. If you’ve been in the market for a crisp, fun and sure to appreciate British roadster, this car deserves your serious consideration.
