    Description

Offered for sale is a rare, gorgeous example of a factory “Turbo Look” Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet finished in striking and understated Navy Blue over Champagne leather. This is a true M491 optioned car, meaning it has a turbo chassis, brakes, suspension, wheels, front and rear spoilers and no model designation on the deck lid while retaining the bullet-proof low maintenance 3.2 liter Carrera engine. Copies of a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and the car’s original option sheet can be provided upon request, also revealing that the car was originally optioned with desirable sport seats and limited slip differential. Porsche only made 113 “Turbo Look” cabriolets in 1985, and only two of them were navy on champagne, so this is indeed a very rare and desirable car. Offered out of a serious and fastidious Southern California Porschephile’s personal collection, this car has always received proper care and maintenance and is undoubtedly one of the finest examples available on the market.

The car’s paint is beautiful, deep and lustrous and marred only by the most minimal of imperfections typical of any car that has lovingly been driven 64k miles. Navy is such a wonderful color on Porsches: it’s timeless and unpretentious while still being unique, certainly more interesting than the Grand Prix White, Guards Red and Black finishes that make up a vast majority of 911s from this era. All of the glass and rubber is in great shape, as are the turbo wheels, wrapped in tires with plenty of remaining tread. The interior is also immaculate, with the exception of typical wear to the driver side outer bolster. Upon buyer request, we can have our upholsterer inexpensively replace the panel using correct Porsche hide. The carpets, interior panels, dash and leather seats are otherwise all in fantastic condition, as is the navy convertible top and tonneau cover.

Mechanically the car is in excellent condition, having been carefully driven just 64k miles throughout its 27 years of faithful service. The engine starts flawlessly, idles consistently and pulls strongly and smoothly through each of the gears. It’s a joy to drive, whether bombing down the Pacific Coast Highway, winding through the canyons or just tooling around town. Always maintained correctly, there are no indications of leaks or seepage and the car comes with a stack of service records to accompany the original manuals and keys. With the exception of a high-end aftermarket sound system (which is amazing), the car is original and unmolested, certainly never tracked or driven improperly.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a rare and iconic 1980s 911, finished tastefully with all the right options and a history of doting ownership.
