    Description

Offered for sale is an absolutely stunning 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa finished in desirable Meteor Grey Metallic over a Black leather interior. Always enthusiast owned, properly garaged and used as a weekend driver, the car presents beautifully with strong mechanicals and a wonderfully preserved original interior. Per the existing options sticker under the boot, the car was originally optioned with a sport steering wheel with an elevated hub, shorter shifting travel, central locking, light forged metal wheels (factory 7’s and 8’s) and automatic heating control. Subsequently an excellent Alpine stereo system has been added, as well as a Clifford security system. The odometer shows 28k miles and the car’s condition would easily allow one to assume that to be the case. That said, we checked with Porsche of North America and discovered that the car had an odometer failure in 1999 with 55,218 original miles. It was summarily replaced with a new odometer at that time. As such, the car and matching numbers engine have traveled a well-cared-for, easy 83,580 miles.

The car’s Meteor Grey Metallic finish is in excellent condition, deep and lustrous and marred only by a few minor imperfections (rock chips, scratches, etc.) consistent with the car’s 28k babied miles and none of which were significant enough to really appear in any of the pictures. The body is straight and all of the panel fit is excellent with no indication of any accidents or accident repair. All of the glass and rubber is in good shape, the targa top shows virtually no wear and the wheels are wrapped in nearly new tires. The car’s interior is in fantastic condition, exhibiting only negligible wear for its 27 years. The leather seats show only minimal wear (with NO tears, dryness, cracking, etc) to drivers side seat bolster and the carpets, interior panels and targa headliner are all in excellent condition. The dash is free of any cracks or warping and the power driver seat, partial power passenger seat, windows, gauges, stereo and heater all work as they should.
Upon turning the key the engine fires right up without any smoke or hesitation, idling smoothly and pulling strongly and evenly through each of the gears. The transmission shifts cleanly without any grinding or slipping gears and the car drives and brakes straight. It’s a joy to drive, whether bombing down the highway or tooling through town, but, as with any 911, its true prowess is best exhibited when winding through the canyons. Having spent a majority of its garaged and well-looked-after life in Texas, rust is not an issue and it retains its original and correct undercarriage.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire an iconic, gorgeous, low mileage 1986 911 finished in a desirable color combination with strong mechanicals. With values on the rise for 911s of this era, this car deserves the serious consideration of any buyer.
