Description
Offered for sale is a one owner, low mileage, mechanically strong 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet with just 35k original miles and finished in rare and attractive Granite Green Metallic over a Linen interior. Purchased new in August of 1988 from University Porsche of Wilmington, NC by a doctor from nearby Whiteville, NC, it would be used as his daily driver for a few years before being retired to his vacation home’s garage. It subsequently received very little use for the better part of twenty years, explaining its uncommonly low mileage.
Per the original build sticker, service booklet (with secondary build sticker) and the original window sticker and purchase order, the car was delivered with the following options:
Granite Green Metallic Paint
Full Tonneau Cover
Blaupunkt “Charleston” Radio
Heavy Duty Windshield Cleaning
Headlight Washers
Forged Alloy Wheels
Automatic Heating Control
Full Power Seat Left
Full Power Seat Right
Automatic Speed Control
HiFi Sound Package
Alarm System
Lumbar Support – Left Seat
The total sales price came to nearly $58k, which is a surprising $117k in today’s dollars when adjusting for inflation.
Never in any accidents, the body is exceedingly straight retaining all of the original panels (VIN stickers on each are intact) and excellent panel fits and gaps. An absolutely gorgeous color that fluctuates between grey and a tasteful gray-green depending on the light, the Granite Green Metallic finish is in great shape with only a handful of minor imperfections, none of which are significant enough to appear in any of the photos. The car’s Linen leather interior beautifully offsets the Granite Green and is also in good condition, the seats, carpets and interior panels showing only minimal wear. The soft top is brand new, the Fuchs wheels are in good condition and the car has a brand new set of tires.
We had a marque specialist perform a comprehensive service upon receiving the car, and it’s consequently running beautifully. The storied 3.2L engine starts effortlessly, idles consistently and pulls strongly and smoothly through each of the desirable G-50 transmission’s gears. The car drives and brakes straight and true, compression and oil pressure are excellent, and it’s easy to understand why this era of 911s is one of the most desirable: it beautifully melds efficiency, reliability and everyday ride quality with a truly visceral, vintage driving feel that is sure to provide anyone behind the wheel a wonderfully grin-inducing experience.
If you’re in the market for a mechanically strong, low mileage, G-50 transmission, 3.2L Carrera, this car deserves your consideration.
