    Description

Offered for sale is a stunning, museum quality, 6,800 mile final year cabriolet. With its advanced 3.2 liter engine and famously smooth G-50 transmission, the Porsche 911 Carrera’s produced between 1987 and 1989 represent the culmination of 30+ years of design and technological advancement. With the subsequent 964 and 993 models going in new directions with styling, the late ‘80s model was the last 911s to utilize the now classic and iconic design created by Ferdinand “Butzi” Porsche for the first model in 1964. For these reasons, the ‘87s to ‘89s are a favorite amongst enthusiasts and have arguably held their value better than any other large-scale production car of the last 35 years. As low mileage examples become increasingly rare in the marketplace, we were thrilled to stumble upon this one and hope it will go to an appreciative home.

The car has been owned in the same family since new and has always been cared for to the highest standards, which is reflected in the exceptional condition of the exterior. The glossy Guards Red paint is deep and lustrous and marred by only an exceedingly few minor rock chips to the front valence. The body is also in excellent condition, with correct gaps and seams and no door dings or scratches to speak of. Additionally, the car rides on flawless polished Fuchs 7’s and 8’s which are wrapped in new Yokahama rubber.

The interior is equally clean. The black leather seats are in truly extraordinary condition, exhibiting absolutely no wear and free of cracking, tears or marks of any sort. The carpets are plush and free of fading and the dash shows no cracking or warping. The power top function works flawlessly and the correct German material top is in brand new condition without any imperfections and a crystal clear rear window.  Everything works as it should and the cars is completely stock except for a $4,000 after-market sound system, which includes custom woofer boxes behind the front seats. Keep in mind that these additions were made with care – you can remove them and return the car to complete stock extremely easily.

The car is mechanically flawless, accelerating strongly and smoothly through all the gears and living up to the marque’s legendary handling abilities in the corners. It’s an absolutely fantastic drive, whether winding through the canyons or bombing down the highway. There is no hesitation or smoke at start-up and no shudders or vibrations through the gears. There are no visible oil leaks and the car idles smoothly at the correct rpm. The car was always and routinely serviced by the dealer and has no known mechanical issues.

The right year. The right colors. Ridiculous miles. The right ownership history. If you’ve been looking for a late 1980s Carrera, this car is arguably the finest currently available.
