Offered for sale is a gorgeous, extremely original 1960 Jaguar XK150 Drop Head Coupe (DHC) finished in ever-stately Cotswold Blue over Grey leather. Evidenced by its incredibly solid condition, this is a car has been coveted since it left the factory. The undercarriage is original and rust-free, the body is straight and the original, numbers matching engine is excellent. The car had been owned by the same gentleman for over thirty years and received a cosmetic restoration in the mid 1990s. As the prior owner became elderly, the XK150 received less and less use and he determined it was time to part with the car.
As such, the car is not a show car and has paint imperfections throughout, however as the pictures show, it does present beautifully. And with the design lines that it has, how can it not? Swooping, graceful lines give the car a sporty yet dignified look, forever tasteful, endlessly elegant. This is only enhanced by the wonderfully vintage and correct Cotswold Blue finish with large white wall tires. The body is straight with good panel fit throughout and all of the chrome and glass is in excellent condition. The car’s interior is equally as clean, the grey leather showing minor patina with good carpets and excellent interior panels and dash. The white soft top is in great condition, as is the boot cover and trunk compartment.
The car’s also extremely strong mechanically. The original numbers matching engine starts without any smoke or hesitation, maintains a smooth and consistent idle both before and after the electric choke disengages. The car pulls strongly through each of the gears, the transmission shifts smoothly and the car drives and brakes straight. A compression test came back excellent (170, 160, 160, 160, 160, 170) and the thing absolutely roars down the highway and is a joy to drive.
