    Description

Offered for sale is an absolutely gorgeous, mechanically excellent, entirely honest and solid 1967 Austin Healey 3000 Mark III BJ8 finished in factory correct and perpetually striking Colorado Red over Black. A three owner weekend driver its entire life, the car is believed to have accrued a mere 54k original miles in its nearly fifty years of service, always properly garaged and maintained, always refurbished as needed and always a point of pride for its owners. This is an absolutely turn key, final production year BJ8 Phase 2 that needs nothing to be enjoyed, whether as an enthusiast’s beautiful weekend driver or amongst other notable vehicles in a discerning collector’s garage.

The car’s Colorado Red finish is in excellent condition: deep, lustrous and marred only by minor imperfections, none of which are significant enough to appear in any of the pictures. The body is completely straight without any evidence of accident repair and all of the panel fits and gaps are consistent. The car’s brightwork is in flawless condition, as is the glass and rubber. The knock-off chrome wire wheels are wrapped in nearly new tires, completing a breathtaking example of the prototypical British sports car.

The car’s interior is extremely clean with flawless, correctly patterned and finished seats, excellent door cards and interior panels, impeccable carpets, and a clean and correct trunk. The car also has a brand new soft top and the boot cover is in excellent condition. The car’s wood dash inserts are in great shape and the car is fitted with a gorgeous Nardi wood steering wheel, as well as a cleverly mounted modern sound system under the dash with easily removable modern speakers. Additionally, the owner’s manual, the original spare wheel and tire and all of the changing tools are included with the car.

The car’s undercarriage is original, sound and free of corrosion and the car is in excellent mechanical condition. Starting without any hesitation, the original engine idles consistently and pulls with grin-inducing BJ8 force, further augmented by the brand new stainless exhaust system’s throaty warble. Compression is strong and even across all cylinders and the car shows absolutely no proclivity for overheating. The transmission shifts smoothly through each of its gears, overdrive works flawlessly and the car drives and brakes straight, handling nimbly. It’s a joy to drive, whether tooling through town, roaring through the canyons or bombing down the highway.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a wonderful classic with all the right things going for it: entirely honest and solid, mechanically strong and beautifully finished in a striking color combination. With “Big Healey” auction results routinely fetching sales prices nearing and even surpassing six figures, they represent a unique segment of the classic car market: highly collectible with good appreciation potential, but with strong #2 drivers still priced somewhat accessibly so that you can actually enjoy them on the road. And that’s a good thing, because they are far too fun from behind the wheel to relegate them to garages or trailers on the way to shows. This car is no exception, undoubtedly providing its next owner with countless enjoyable driving experiences in an asset that will only increase in value over time.
