    Description

Offered for sale is an absolutely gorgeous, extremely original 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series I Fixed Head Coupe (FHC) finished in its original and rare Opalescent Silver Grey over Red Leather. The 1967 E-Type is considered by many to be the most desirable of the iconic model. The final year of the Series I, it retains the desirable covered headlamps and toggle switches in the dash and boasts a 4.2L inline six-cylinder engine with triple SU carburetors mated to a four-speed synchromesh transmission. Always extremely well looked after, this car presents beautifully as a legitimate survivor. Everything on the car is original with the exception of a single repaint some 15 years ago in the original paint color. As such, it bears some typical patina and is not a show car, but as the pictures show, it turns heads wherever it goes. On the basis of the level of wear and our mechanic’s opinion, we feel that the 64k miles showing on the odometer to be original to the car.

The finish retains wonderful depth and luster and polishes up nicely, however it has a few rock chips and imperfections, none of which significantly detract from the car’s overall appeal or are large enough to appear in any of the pictures. All of the chrome and glass are in excellent original condition and the body and panel fit is excellent, betraying no evidence of accidents. The undercarriage is clean, original and rust-free, proof-positive that the car was always garaged and cared for. The car’s interior is equally as clean and original. The seats, dash, interior panels, headliner and carpets are entirely original and are all in remarkable condition. The driver seat has some minimal separation in the seat cushion that could be replaced, however in our humble opinion the car is better for its patina.

Driving the car is a completely visceral experience. It sounds, smells and performs vintage. The original numbers matching engine fires easily without any smoke or hesitation, maintains a consistent idle and pulls with fantastic power through each of the four gears. Whether roaring down the highway, winding through the canyons or just running errands in town, the car is an absolute joy to drive, accelerating with grin-inducing force and driving and handling as it should.

This is an excellent opportunity at acquiring an extremely desirable Series I E-Type FHC that has all of the right things going for it: rare, beautiful color combination, incredibly strong, numbers matching engine and transmission, particularly presentable and the final year of the model.
