    Description

Offered for sale is an absolutely gorgeous, completely rust free California Mercedes-Benz 220SE Cabriolet. Finished in classically elegant silver over a grey leather interior with a black top, as the VIN indicates, this is a true cabriolet, not a coupe that has been converted. As anyone familiar with vintage Mercedes’ will attest, because of their timeless styling and low production numbers, no one model has risen in desirability and value over the years more than the W111 cabriolet. To find a gorgeous California example such as this is truly a rare opportunity to which any serious W111 buyer should assign significant consideration.

The car’s silver exterior finish is deep, lustrous and absolutely stunning. Marred only by the most insignificant of imperfections (i.e. minor, touched up rock chips, etc), each so minor that they wouldn’t show up the pictures, the car turns heads everywhere it goes. Not a single outing goes by without admirers stopping to photograph the car, giving a “thumbs up” or smiling and pointing the car out to their companions. A pampered life in California has been good to the car and it is rust-free. The gaps and fits are correct and the body is straight. The black soft top is in very good condition with a crystal clear rear plastic window. The glass and rubber are in great shape and the chrome is excellent, free of significant rust/pitting or other damage. The color-matched hub caps are in excellent condition and the wheels are wrapped in nearly new tires.

The interior is equally as clean. The supple grey leather seats are immaculate, as is the grey square-weave carpet. The interior wood is in excellent condition, free of any warping or cracking and retaining astonishing gloss. The door panels and headliner are in excellent condition as well, free of tears, fading or sagging.

The car has always been well cared for in dry climates and there is no rust in the doors, trunk, undercarriage or anywhere else on the car. The car runs famously, starting right up and idling smoothly without any hesitation or smoke. The engine runs stronger than any other 220 we’ve come across, pulling smoothly and powerfully through each of the gears and running cleanly at speed without any shudders or vibrations. The car brakes as straight as it drives, the steering is tight and precise and the handling follows suit. The car is truly a joy to drive, whether touring through town on a weekend afternoon or cruising down the highway.
