    Description

Offered for sale is an exceptionally original, numbers matching, two-owner, factory original Slate Grey (Paint Code #6401) 1964 Porsche 356C Coupe. This is a very special example in a market where it has become exceedingly difficult to find unmolested, unrestored, original examples. Retaining its original and wonderfully offsetting red interior, this incredibly solid 356 should certainly be seriously considered by any Porsche enthusiast.

The car’s Karmann body is excellent. The hood, deck lid and all of the body panels are original to the car with exceptional panel fits and consistent gaps throughout. The body is straight and the finish retains depth and luster with a beautiful original patina that shows only minor imperfections appropriate to a properly maintained original example. The original glass, trim, and chrome are in good original condition and the wheels are original and somewhat unusual: only a small portion of the production run came with crestless hubcaps. The interior’s everything you’d want in a vintage Porsche. The original carpets show a patina that only enhances the car’s overall appeal. The correct and very rare Becker Monte Carlo radio is an interesting option and the original owner’s manual remains in the glove box. Everything in and on this car just feels right. The undercarriage, battery box, rockers, etc. are extremely solid and presentable.

This 356 is as mechanically strong as anyone could ask for. Always firing right up, the car doesn’t smoke, idles consistently, and has no unusual hesitations or noises. The numbers matching original engine has incredibly strong compression (180 across all four cylinders!) and the carburetors have been recently serviced. The car pulls strongly through each of its gears without any grinding or hesitation and it handles beautifully, driving and braking straight. It’s a very tight and solid example that’s extraordinarily fun to drive, whether bombing through the canyons, cruising down the highway or just tooling through town.
