    Description

Offered for sale is a striking, beautifully restored 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 Coupe finished in correct Graublau Metallic (Grey Blue Metallic, DB906) over full Parchment leather. The recipient of a careful cosmetic restoration, the car is enduringly elegant and truly as nice as it appears in the photographs.

The paint is excellent, a rich and lustrous finish in a refined metallic color that shows only the most insignificant of imperfections. All of the car’s chrome is in good condition, as is the rubber and all of the original glass. Panel fits and gaps are excellent and the car shows no evidence of any accidents. Always garaged and cared for, the car’s undercarriage and body are both rust-free. The car’s original wheels with color-matched hubs are wrapped in brand new tires (with white walls turned inward but easily rotated in case you prefer them).

The car’s Parchment interior is absolutely beautiful, with no expense spared to return the seats, carpets, interior panels and headliner to gorgeous, factory new condition. The dash wood has been refinished by Madera Concepts and is nothing short of stunning. The dash houses fully functional gauges, power windows, heat, Behr air conditioning and a Becker radio with power antenna.

Mechanically the car is in excellent condition, starting easily, idling consistently and pulling strongly and smoothly through each of the gears. It drives and brakes straight and requires nothing, a true turn-key example. Whether tooling through town or cruising down the highway, the car is an absolute joy to drive – modern enough to be comfortably enjoyed but also visceral enough to provide that great vintage drive quality. Whether its next owner will be a weekend driver fan of the marque or whether the car will be a worthy and appreciating addition to any serious Mercedes collection, this car deserves the consideration of any vintage Mercedes enthusiast.
